Well, this week has been eventful to say the least. My husband is home on sick leave after having an adverse reaction to a change in his medication. Just to make things even more interesting, Smokey (the cat) was in a disagreement with a strange cat in our backyard and is suffering from an abscess on her head. She is not impressed with the "cone of shame" she is wearing at present to keep her from scratching at the sore spot. Vet visits and medicating her have taken time out from my sewing schedule as well. Also, hubby hit a kangaroo on the way to work on Thursday so one of the family cars is out of action while we wait for repairs. Nothing major but enough to mean it is better not to drive it.

I have done a little sewing of my hexagons this week. I have arranged another round of flowers and sewn some of them on. I have made some more of the cream hexagons while waiting at various appointments. Also I have cut out lots of coloured hexagons to make more flowers, using up some of my stash of scraps. Many years ago a fellow quilter gave me a garbage bag full of her scraps saying, "you do applique so you might be able to use these, I won't". They have sat in some containers just waiting for inspiration, most pieces are not very big and I can cut only one hexagon, others are quite large and I can get quite a few flowers from them.

On the wedding garment front, I completed my son's cloak last night. I discovered that there are 8.5m down the front and around the bottom when measuring for the satin ribbon trim. This needed to be handsewn on as machine stitching is not meant to be seen. This took me 3 days of handsewing time to complete.

I have done a little preparation for some of the other garments for the wedding. I was given my net petticoat on Sunday and need to do a little alteration to get it to fit well and then I can finish my kirtle and work more on the gown. I have made the gown's sleeves and skirt ready to attach to the unstarted bodice.

Sure sounds like a hectic week for you. I had to laugh when I read your hubby hit a kangaroo. Reading that and not knowing where you are from just hit me funny. There are no kangaroos anywhere close to me even in the zoo. I hope your kitty and hubby feel better soon and your car gets fixed. Love all your little hexies. Bunny
